Everyone stay calm — it’s true. We have agreed on TEN restaurants for this post! Gone are the days of arguing of where to eat (er…where to order for takeout, right?).
Steve loves to eat out. I am more of a homecookin’ kinda person, but in the wake of knowing so many small business owners who are fighting to keep themselves and businesses afloat during this pandemic, we dedicate at least one night a week to takeout. We want to support our community and small businesses because we are small business owners ourselves.
So, if you’re a local to the Youngstown area, check out our top 10 (in no order) for takeout or delivery.
Aladdin’s Eatery (available for pickup and no-contact delivery)
We love Aladdin’s because it’s so clean and fresh. They have a variety of menu options including many vegan and vegetarian options. Always get extra sauces (Steve’s tip).
- Courtney’s pick: Hummus Tabouli Garden Roll (vegan)
- Steve’s pick: Beef Kafta Rolled
Magic Tree Pub & Eatery (available for pickup and no-contact delivery)
Magic Tree offers a variety of food and also has Lenten specials this time of year. Rumor has it that they also provide a free kid’s meal with any order right now! Courtney hasn’t eaten here for a while, but she remembers the fried chips as wonderful. Steve raves about the burgers. Psst: They also have the Impossible Burger.
- Courtney’s pick: Whatever it is, get it with a side of homemade chips!
- Steve’s pick: ANY burger (guess they’re that good!)
Scarsella’s (available for pick-up)
When we moved to our current home in 2012, we spied a dainty Italian restaurant in walking-distance. We gave it a try one night and never looked back! The traditional, Italian sauce is amazing. They are also serving gluten-free pasta these days, and they have many specials that change often.
- Courtney’s pick: Homemade linguine with Scarsella’s original pasta sauce (add a meatball! If vegetarian, sub for a salad with Italian dressing)
- Steve’s pick: Lasagna + wedding soup
FYI: You can buy Scarsella’s soup AND sauce by the quart! We like to buy the sauce and freeze it for Sunday dinners. Great way to support a local business and abide by our stay-at-home order rather than go grocery shopping for our pasta Sundays ;-).
Scarsella’s doesn’t offer delivery yet, but you can order by calling (330) 788-0806 for pick-up.
Mizu Japanese Restaurant (available for no-contact delivery)
If you know Courtney, you already know that sushi is not her pick. Not now; not then; not ever. But…Steve says the Sushi at Mizu is great. He suggests any of the rolls if you happen to be in the mood for Sushi!
- Courtney’s pick: PASS
- Steve’s pick: Any and all Sushi (gotta have options).
Ghossain’s Gourmet Mediterranean Food (available for pick-up and no-contact delivery)
Courtney is Italian and Steve is Greek. This one makes sense. We love getting both lunch and dinner from Ghossain’s, and they have a few locations in the area. Mediterranean food is often very healthy and can be easily morphed into vegetarian meals.
- Courtney’s pick: Labne wrap (could eat this every day!)
- Steve’s pick: Classic gyro rice bowl
Pro-tip: Always add flatbread to your order — ALWAYS!
Available for delivery through the following: Doordash, Uber Eats
Pizza Joe’s (available for pick-up)
Courtney grew up in New Castle, PA — Pizza Joe’s has been a thing there since the 80s. We are both happy to see so many locations across the state line. If we are telling the truth, there’s just nothing like their veggie pizza. It can’t be topped.
Courtney and Steve’s one-and-only-agreed-upon-pick: Veggie pizza (the ranch dressing really makes it a meal)
Visit the website above to find the pick-up phone number and location closest to you.
Kabob House Mediterranean Cuisine (available for pick-up and no-contact delivery)
Courtney hasn’t eaten here, but Steve loves it. However, Courtney vouches for any kind of Mediterranean food (are you starting to see a theme here?) and has sampled the delicious hummus and flatbread.
- Courtney’s pick: Original hummus + flatbread
- Steve’s pick: Kufta (beef) kabob
Available for delivery through the following: Doordash
Little Greek Fresh Grill (available for pick-up and no-contact delivery)
Before we get into this, please make a note that whatever spice is on the flatbread is nectar from heaven (the best). Steve grew up eating classic, home-cooked Greek meals made by his Yia Yai (Greek for “grandmother). This is the ONLY Greek restaurant he seems to endorse, so it’s gotta be legit.
- Courtney’s pick: Chicken pita
- Steve’s pick: Pastitso (Greek lasagna)
Pho Saigon (available for pick-up and no-contact delivery)
This is another non-Courtney restaurant, but Steve loves it. Remember…Courtney is really particular and refuses to try new things a lot (just ask Steve…).
- Courtney’s pick: No thanks.
- Steve’s pick: Lo Mein noodles
Available for delivery through the following: doordash.com
Delivery & Takeout by Chef Christopher Bonacci & The Food Crusier (available for pick-up and no-contact delivery)

Steve has been eating Chef Christopher’s meals since he owned Christopher’s At The End Of The Tunnel. Courtney adored the baked potatoes and the menu for one of her baby showers.
- Courtney’s pick: Anything potatoes and chicken
- Steve’s pick: EVERYTHING.
